regarding access to Child Care Benefit & 50% Child Care Rebate
Since July 1 2008 the Australian government has raised the cap on the rate of the non-income tested Child Care Rebate from 30% to 50%, the maximum amount receivable from $4350 to $7500, and the payment frequency from annually to quarterly for those who prefer… for approved services such as is Aeoncademy’s school holiday program (including Creative Catalyst, Shifting Sands and Vala Club).
For the Child Care Benefit (CCB) and/or the Child Care Rebate (CCR) you need to:
1.
.i/ Test your eligibility with Centrelink. Call 136150 and speak to an actual (customer service) person.
.ii/ Do this also if you have previously tested eligibility but have misplaced your Customer Reference Numbers (CRNs).
.iii/ You will need to get CRNs for yourself (eligible parent) and child/ren.
.iv/ Even if you already have CRNs for yourself and child/ren you still need to test eligibility for CCB & CCR specifically, so that your rate of CCB can be established.
2. If eligible they will issue you with Customer Reference Numbers (CRNs) (for both parent and child/ren), and a notice of assessment for the rate of CCB and the number of eligible hours. You will indicate your intent to claim CCB either as a lump sum, after the end of the financial year, or as fee reductions that will be credited to your account with our service.
If you want to receive your CCR as a quarterly payment, you must claim CCB as fee reductions, even if you are assessed as eligible for CCB but at a zero rate. If you choose to claim CCB as a lump sum payment, you will not receive your CCR entitlement until the end of that year, once your CCB entitlement has been determined.
3. Note that if you are assessed eligible for CCB, but you receive zero rate entitlement due to income, you are still eligible for the 50% CCR, payable as a lump sum either quarterly or after the end of the financial year, from the goverenmengt.
4. When enrolling with our service you pay 100% fee in advance and supply significant information including CRNs during the enrolment process. The parent/legal guardian (one person only) claiming CCB and CCR must be the person liable for the cost of care.
5. We pass enrolment and attendance information on to the government where it is processed.
We receive payments for CCB fee reductions which are credited to your account with us.
CCR is paid direct to you either quarterly or annually as explained above.
Also Note:
i/ Where a child attends care at multiple services parents/guardians can nominate the number of eligible hours that they wish to be paid CCB for at each service at the time of sign-in (the relevant form can also be obtained beforehand at govt website ). Parents/guardians can also change their nominated hours at any point in the future.
ii./ In cases of shared care separate enrolments must be set up for each parent/guardian and child combination. For each enrolment the parent/legal guardian (one person only) claiming CCB and CCR must be the person liable for the cost of care for the duration of that enrolment (in our service’s enrolment process we also refer to this person as the ‘ticket buyer’ or ‘registrant’).
iii/ Although the preferred process is to obtain CRNs prior to using care, you may enroll before, or during the process of, testing your eligibility for CCB with Centrelink. You would then provide our service with your CRNs when you receive them, and we will then ‘formalise’ the enrolment, and the process continues as per 5. Similarly, if you enrol without providing us with CRNs etc you can provide this information later and the enrolment will be ‘formalised’.
